Plane Crash in Golf Hammock

I was not sure I would even post anything about the plane that crashed this past Saturday on our golf course, because one of gentlemen who died in the crash was my neighbor. No, I don’t mean he lived in my community, I mean, he lived 4 houses down from me, my neighbor.

I thought (for a split second) about driving up to the 10th tee and getting an image just for the blog, but I couldn’t do it, and I am glad for that.

What am I muttering about you might be wondering…

(I apologize up front if my thoughts are not coherent and I seem to go back and forth, my brain doesn’t seem to want to function in a logical way right now.)

Saturday morning, I was being lazy, after being up all night, and was curled up in bed, drifting in and out of sleep, at some point I kept hearing a plane overhead but did not think anything about it, until my Mom came in from dropping her rental car off and said… “there’s been a plane crash up on the golf course”. It was 11:48 AM.

I got up and went outside, I could hear and see the different helicopters circling around. And then I remembered that at some point I heard sirens earlier, but wasn’t sure if it was part of a dream or not, at the time, I just dismissed it.

It wasn’t until later that evening that we found out who was on board. When I first heard that both passengers had ‘ejected’ from the plane, I thought that couldn’t be correct, and I still don’t think that they ejected. I think when the plane broke apart, they had no choice.

And please people, get his name correct, it is James Ricker, not Richer.

I had to quit listening to the newscasts and reading the paper, because some of the information that is being brought ‘as news’, to me, just seems… like it could have been left out, just for consideration of the families.

Some of the comments that have been left on the news articles, well, all I can is that some people just have no compassion, no consideration and no manners.

Thanks for writing this. Its true. They are people… someones dad, someones neighbor, someones husband, someones best friend. Many people are forever changed - a week before Christmas - because of what happened Saturday, and the media/news/bloggers can be completely disrespectful of that. So again, thanks for pointing it out to everyone.

You will be missed, Jim. God Bless his family.
